SWR | Baden-Baden Media Centre

Baden-Baden, Germany, 2023.

A new building for the future of work.

With the new media centre in Baden-Baden, Südwestrundfunk (SWR) sets the course for a successful future. The light and airy building complex brings radio, television and online disciplines together under one roof for the first time, breaking away from the traditional individual locations. The new building is the company’s response to digital transformation and changing workflows. It will enable even closer collaboration – perfectly tailored to the requirements of a constantly evolving media landscape.

The new media centre embodies everything the future of work represents – multimediality, flexibility and interdisciplinary collaboration. Approximately 400 employees enjoy optimal working conditions at 330 modern workstations that enable future-oriented work.

In addition to the spatially functional design, the media centre also features a cohesive colour and material concept that is partly colour-coordinating, partly with purposefully placed colourful accents to create a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere – perfect for focussed work and inspiring interactions where numerous Brunner furnishings blend in seamlessly.

In the canteen, chairs and tables from the crona light (with eco shell), crona light bar, nate, nate s, hoc, A-Table and break ranges create an inviting, relaxed atmosphere. They not only invite visitors to eat but also to linger, interact with colleagues and encourage creative discussions. On the terrace, weather-resistant crona steel chairs and tables ensure outdoor comfort.

The lounge area, central areas and project spaces provide various seating options for relaxing breaks, informal meetings or simply a change of scenery. Models from the crona light lounge, A-Bench, A-Chair, hoc and pads ranges are used in these areas, supplemented by break, valet and lift tables. cellular armchairs with surrounding panel also provide places to retreat.

In the seminar rooms, the stackable A-Chairs and the basic V folding table ensure optimal meeting conditions.

Architecturally, the new building blends perfectly into its surroundings while also setting high standards in terms of sustainability. The energy-efficient design, the material selection and, for example, the design of the grounds meet the sustainability standard for sustainable construction in Baden-Württemberg (Nachhaltigkeitsstandard für nachhaltiges Bauen Baden-Württemberg – NBBW). SWR is therefore not only committed to the Baden-Baden site, it is also setting an example for environmentally conscious construction.
